U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today released the following statement after the city of Houston announced it will withdraw subpoenas of five local pastors:

"Today's decision is welcome news and long overdue. The First Amendment guarantees a right to free speech and religious freedom for all, and Texans must be assured these inalienable rights will not be trampled on by a government that doesn't agree with their views."
