Peters Concerned about Discovery of Asian Carp eDNA in Kalamazoo River

Today, U.S. Representative Gary Peters (MI-14) expressed concern after the Michigan Department of Natural Resources found signs of Asian carp eDNA present in the Kalamazoo River. Peters' statement follows:

"The Great Lakes are critical to Michigan's economy and our way of life. The reports of Asian carp potentially spreading into the Kalamazoo River are of grave concern. We must double down on our efforts to aggressively stop the spread of invasive species before they reach the Great Lakes, and I will continue working with members of our congressional delegation and state and federal experts on a comprehensive strategy to address the spread of carp and other invasive species to the Lakes. Michigan's economic future depends on us making smart choices now so that our Great Lakes are protected for generations to come."
