U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement on the 5 to 4 U.S. Supreme Court decision to block early voting in Ohio, originally scheduled to begin today:

"The Supreme Court's short-sighted decision to block early voting and hear the state of Ohio's appeal is an affront to the democratic process. Rather than hinder access to the polls, we should expand access to the ballot box. This decision is in direct opposition to the democratic principles upon which our nation is founded."
