Press Release

Date: Oct. 20, 2014
Location: North Las Vegas, NV

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) and Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Mel Watt will host a community discussion focusing on Nevada's housing recovery, including the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP).

"No other state was hit as hard by the housing crisis as Nevada; it's an issue I see each and every day in the neighborhoods that I serve," Horsford said. "I am proud to be working with Director Watt to find solutions that will help Nevada families be able to stay in their homes, reduce their monthly mortgage payments, and make loans more affordable for future homeowners."

Representative Horsford sits on the House Financial Services Committee and has been working with Director Watt to create housing policy that is specific to Nevada and serves its unique challenges.

During this discussion, Director Watt will hear from local community members and housing leaders about the issues they are facing here in Nevada. Representatives from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will also participate in the discussion and will be available to answer questions from the community.
