Horsford Announces $692K HUD Grant For Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a $691,791 grant to the Southern Nevada Housing Authority. Funded through HUD's Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS), this grant will provide resources to individuals participating in HUD'S Housing Choice Voucher Program to further their education or receive training to develop marketable job skills.

"I am pleased that HUD is able to provide these critical resources for Nevadans who desperately need them," Horsford said. "Getting a job through training or additional education will help people be able to afford to stay in their homes. I will continue to work to bring federal funds home for Nevadans."

FSS grants allow public housing agencies (PHAs) to work with social service agencies, community colleges, businesses, and other local partners to provide low-income residents resources that will enable them to obtain employment and advance in their current work. In 2014, Congress combined funding for the Public Housing FSS (PH FSS) and Housing Choice (HCV FSS) programs into one program serving both populations.
