Horsford Statement On President Obama's Address Regarding ISIS

Statement

Date: Sept. 10, 2014
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement regarding President Obama's national address outlining the United States' military strategy to degrade and defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS):

"I support the strategy outlined tonight by President Obama to act in coordination with our allies to degrade and destroy ISIS. Through mass killings and beheadings, this group has demonstrated its abhorrent barbarism, lack of regard for humanity, and desire to harm American interests. The United States, as a leading world power, will work to form a united coalition to destroy ISIS without putting American boots on the ground. As the President stated, there will be a steady, relentless effort to take out ISIS wherever they exist using air power and support from partner forces on the ground. I support these efforts and will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure America remains secure."
