Van Hollen Statement on the FY 2014 Deficit Numbers

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the fiscal year 2014 deficit numbers:
"Today's announcement shows that we have made substantial progress in reducing our deficit -- the deficit this year is the lowest deficit as a percentage of GDP since 2007 and $197 billion less than fiscal year 2013. The best way to reduce future deficits is to continue the same strategy that has allowed us make this progress: President Obama's focus on boosting economic growth and a balanced approach of targeted spending cuts and closing unproductive special interest tax breaks."
