Van Hollen Announces $1.3 Million for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in Emmitsburg

Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), under the Department of Homeland Security, has awarded a $1,308,150 grant to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in Emmitsburg to help reduce firefighter deaths and injuries.

"The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation does exceptional work honoring the heroes who are first in the line of danger when our communities face a threat," said Congressman Van Hollen. "This important funding will help protect our first responders and provide them with the training, education, and resources they need to keep our families safe."

FEMA's Fire Prevention and Safety grants are awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program and support firefighter safety, research, and development activities to mitigate incidences of deaths and injuries caused by fire and fire-related hazards.
