PROCLAMATION- VOLUNTEER WEEK

APRIL 17-23, 2005

WHEREAS, the giving of oneself in service to another empowers the giver, as well as the receiver; and
WHEREAS, a volunteer force of more than 64 million people is vital to our future as a caring and productive nation; and
WHEREAS, volunteers all across North Dakota give of their time and talents each day to make a real difference for their communities and our state; and
WHEREAS, all North Dakota citizens can affect positive change in the lives of children, adults and the elderly with volunteer actions, regardless how big or small; and
WHEREAS, during this week, throughout our state and nation, service projects will be performed and volunteers will be recognized for their commitment to service and to enhancing the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, North Dakotans are encouraged to recognize the dedication and service of volunteers throughout our state, and to volunteer and "light the way" in their communities; and
NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim April 17-23, 2005, VOLUNTEER WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
