Zeldin Discusses Specific Plans to Move America in a Better Direction

Statement

New York State Senator Lee M. Zeldin, Republican and Conservative Party candidate for Congress in New York's First Congressional District, today released the following statement regarding specific plans to move America forward in a better direction:

"Elections present voters with choices between candidates with different visions for the best path ahead for our communities, state and nation. We must reduce the partisan gridlock to help grow our economy and create more good paying private sector jobs. We must do a better job securing our borders and America's interests abroad. We can do more to fight for our veterans who fought for us. All parties must work together to improve our nation's health care as well as the quality of education for our school children.

Here are 9 more specific initiatives to help move America forward that I support:

-Reform the federal budget process to ensure annual budgets are passed.

-Improve technology within the Department of Veterans Affairs to reduce the backlog of disability claims.

-Fix the Medicare reimbursement formula that is shortchanging Long Island providers.

-Eliminate the Estate Tax.

-Reduce the bureaucratic red tape preventing timely Visa application approvals for seasonal laborers.

-Reduce the Capital Gains Tax.

-Modernize Medicaid rules that discourage individuals from entering the work force at entry level positions due to risk of losing health care coverage.

-Allow small businesses to pool health insurance policies to obtain better, more cost efficient options for employees.

-Safely utilize more of our domestic energy supply to reduce our reliance on foreign oil and eventually reduce our reliance on oil altogether.

I believe that America's best days are ahead and elected officials must demonstrate more will to help lead our great nation on a better path forward."
