Part 2: Setting the Record Straight on Equal Pay for Equal Work

New York State Senator Lee M. Zeldin, Republican and Conservative Party candidate for Congress in New York's First Congressional District, today released the second of a four part series of statements this week on supporting women's initiatives.

"My opponent continues to lie about me and my record on equal pay for equal work. It is time to set the record straight. During my time as a New York State Senator, I proudly voted in favor of legislation that would ensure women receive equal pay for equal work by not allowing employers to pay employees differently due to gender.

I have two daughters. I would never vote for legislation that would negatively impact their access to fair and equal opportunities. It's sad that after 12 years, the incumbent has no real positive record to run on himself, so he has resorted to lying and distorting my record in an attempt to scare voters. He has even gone as far as saying I oppose equal pay for equal work, despite the fact that I have voted twice in the State Senate in support of it. His job-killing, tax-raising votes in Washington have contributed to the fact that millions of women in this country looking for work can't find it, and millions more women who are working are still struggling to pay their bills.

Desperate lies won't change the facts, Mr. Congressman."
