New York State Senator and Army Reserve Major Lee Zeldin, Republican and Conservative Party candidate for Congress in New York's First Congressional District, released the following statement on his opponent's untruthful attack ads.
"My opponent continues to air, mail and otherwise deliver dishonest attacks at a feverish pace. It's sad that after 12 years in office, the incumbent Congressman has no real record to run on, so instead he continues to lie and distort my record in an attempt to scare my supporters.
Some of his lies include:
-I oppose equal pay for equal work;
-I want to ban common forms of birth control;
-I want to make taxpayers responsible for the costs of corporate pollution;
-I want to increase the tax burden on the middle class by reducing taxes on the wealthy;
-I want to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions and kick children off their parents' health care plans;
-I want women to be charged more than men for health coverage;
-My opponent is even trying to scare seniors into voting for him by telling them I want to privatize their social security, which I do not support.
From cutting taxes, to protecting our Veterans, women and seniors, I've worked hard to improve our state and I will fight hard every day as your Congressman to change the direction our country is headed.
We must grow our economy and create more good paying private sector jobs, secure our borders and America's interests abroad, fight for our veterans who fought for us, repeal and replace Obamacare and stop Common Core.
Unfortunately, we have elected officials in Washington who care about their own re-election above all else. This is the problem with Washington and sadly, my opponent has become part of this problem, resorting to attacking me in order to keep his seat in Congress. Luckily, on November 4th, we have the chance to change who we send to Washington to represent us. 12 years is long enough. It's time to Term Limit Tim."
