Coalition of Six Dover Mayors Endorses Jeanne Shaheen

Today, a coalition of Dover leaders, including current Dover Mayor Karen Weston and former mayors Alex Nossiff, William Boc, Howard Williams, George Maglaras and Jack Buckley endorsed Senator Jeanne Shaheen, citing her record of making a difference for families and small businesses in Dover. The mayors contrasted Shaheen's work to put New Hampshire communities like Dover first with Scott Brown's record of looking out for himself, Big Oil, Wall Street and companies that ship jobs overseas.

"I'm proud of the work we've done to make difference for middle class families and small businesses here in Dover, and I'm thrilled to have the support of six mayors who have spent decades serving this community," said Shaheen. "New Hampshire communities like Dover deserve a Senator who will fight for them, not someone who will work for out of state interests like Big Oil and Wall Street. That's what's on the line in this election, and I could not be more proud to have the support of these local leaders."

"I find it an honor and privilege to be here on behalf of Jeanne Shaheen's reelection to the United States Senate," said former Mayor William Boc. "I have known Senator Shaheen for some 45 years and it's no surprise to me as a State Senator, a Governor and now a United States Senator she has been able to work in a bipartisan manner successfully. I can tell you she hasn't changed one bit."

"When both Senator Shaheen and Mr. Brown were in the Senate, they each voted on two critical pieces of legislation, one was the Small Business Jobs Act and the other was the Travel Promotion Act. Senator Shaheen voted for both of them, Scott Brown voted against both of them. So for me as a business owner do I think Scott Brown supports small businesses? Absolutely not," said Karen Weston, Mayor of Dover.

Shaheen helped craft the bipartisan Small Business Jobs Act that has helped Dover businesses grow and create jobs. She stood up to members of her own party to prevent another round of base closures that could have harmed the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the thousands of people that work there. And she secured funding to expand I-93 and rebuild the Portsmouth Memorial Bridge, all of which created new jobs.

Last week, a majority of New Hampshire mayors, including Mayor Weston, endorsed Jeanne Shaheen, citing her long record making a difference for each of their local communities.

Meanwhile, as a Senator from Massachusetts, Scott Brown supported special tax breaks for Big Oil, Wall Street, and companies that ship jobs overseas. After Massachusetts voted him out, Brown got paid more that a quarter million as a board member of the company Kadant Inc., which outsourced American jobs to China and Mexico. Brown even signed documents endorsing the company's outsourcing strategy to increase its bottom line just two days before he declared his run for the Senate in New Hampshire. Brown is still working for the company.
