Larry Hogan Still Hiding Promises He Put in Writing to Earn the NRA's Endorsement

Today Larry Hogan again refused to answer questions from reporters about the endorsement he received from the NRA during a campaign stop with Republican Governors Association Chair and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Once again, Hogan refused to release the NRA questionnaire that earned him the gun lobbyist organization's endorsement. Hogan's record is clear, he opposed the Firearm Safety Act that implemented common-sense background checks to prevent criminals from getting handguns, and opposed banning assault rifles and high capacity magazines.

"Larry Hogan doesn't want Marylanders to know about the promises he made in writing to gun lobbyists, that's why he's hiding the questionnaire that earned him the NRA's endorsement," said Lt. Governor Anthony Brown. "We already know that Larry Hogan opposed common-sense background checks and bans on assault rifles and high capacity magazines, but we don't know how he answered nearly 30 detailed questions from the NRA about his pro-gun agenda. In Maryland, we've made real progress getting guns off our streets to make our communities safer and families deserve to know if Larry Hogan is planning to undermine that progress."

Three different organizations have publicly called on Hogan to tell Maryland voters what promises he made the NRA and pro-gun extremists in secret. Both Maryland Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense and the Brady Campaign have called on Hogan to release his NRA questionnaire. And the Frederick News-Post published an editorial that stated "it's up to the media and other interested parties to press Hogan to tell voters in public what he has been communicating to gun activists in private."
