Issues: Taxes

As Supervisor of the Town of Deerpark, I know the heavy price we pay for the taxes imposed on us by an undisciplined Albany that treats us as the cash register for a wasteful government. New Yorkers suffer under some of the highest taxes in the United States--property taxes, income taxes, sales taxes all combine to leave us with all too little to take home from our paychecks, and to create even greater hardships for families already straining to manage their budgets. In "border communities" like Deerpark, Ramapo, or Warwick, high taxes also mean that businesses and families choose to locate in Pennsylvania or New Jersey--which takes jobs and activity away from us. It's a vicious downward spiral, but we can stop it. I know, because I've done as Town Supervisor. And just the way we cut spending and reduced the tax levy in Deerpark, Albany needs to do less with more, set reasonable budgets, and work smarter--and pass the savings on to our taxpayers to spend, save, and invest here in our communities.
