Lujan Statement On The Anniversary of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2014
Location: Los Alamos, NM
Issues: Defense

"Today we remember those who lost their lives during the terrorist attack on our nation thirteen years ago. While we continue to mourn this tragedy, we also reflect on our country's ability to stand strong and endure in the face of such heinous acts.

"We remember the first responders who exemplified bravery and risked their lives to help those in need, as well as citizens who found the courage to act and help their fellow neighbor. Yesterday, Congress honored those that perished with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian award that can be bestowed. We also honor and show our gratitude to those who were called to join the Armed Services, especially those who continue to serve and sacrifice in order to protect our country. The heroism and valor of these individuals truly represent the best our country has to offer.

"We are not defined by tragedy, but rather by the strength and resolve that we show in response. On the anniversary of 9/11, let us remain united in spirit and continue to honor the memory of those we lost."
