Lujan Grisham Statement on Appointment of New Acting Director for New Mexico VA

Issues: Veterans Health and Health Care
U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) issued the following statement today after the Department of Veterans Affairs named Dr. Skye McDougall as the acting director of the New Mexico VA Health Care System:
"I am disappointed that the Veterans Administration has yet to hire a permanent director to overhaul the New Mexico VA. There has been a failure of leadership, and we need a manager with the authority to implement the long-term reforms necessary to change the New Mexico VA's culture of mismanagement. I am hopeful that Dr. McDougall will begin that transformation, but I don't believe the VA can win back the trust of veterans without bold, permanent leadership that is committed to reform."
