U.S. Chamber of Commerce Endorses Tom Cotton For U.S. Senate

U.S. Senate candidate Tom Cotton announced at a press conference at Baldwin & Shell Construction in Little Rock that he had received the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world's largest business federation representing the interests of more than three million businesses and organizations. In their endorsement, the chamber highlights Cotton's record of support on pro-growth and job creation policies, an area in which Senator Pryor's voting record has shifted sharply to the left since Senator Pryor took office.

The U.S. Chamber endorsement is a critial endorsement in the race for U.S. Senate. In 2008, the U.S. Chamber threw its support behind Pryor. But after six years of voting 93% of the time with Barack Obama, they were ready to go in a different direction and are now supporting Tom Cotton.

"The U.S. Chamber is proud to endorse Tom Cotton in the Arkansas Senate race," said Rob Engstrom, Senior Vice President and National Political Director, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "Rep. Cotton has a 92% score fighting for the interests of job creators and a proven record supporting policies that will advance growth and economic opportunity in Arkansas and across the country. We are honored to be in Little Rock to support his campaign."

In contrast, Senator Pryor has voted against job creation time after time. For instance:

Senator Pryor supported Obamacare, which imposed burdensome regulations and taxes on American businesses and made hiring and expansion more difficult. He even opposed legislation that would have removed the employer mandate from Obamacare
Senator Pryor has carried the water for big labor, earning a lifetime AFL-CIO rating of 83%. Pryor was even a co-sponsor and supporter of card check legislation, which could destroy as many as 600,000 jobs within one year.
Senator Pryor voted against a full or partial repeal of the death tax 12 times--a tax that unfairly impacts Arkansas's agriculture industry.
Senator Pryor has voted for higher taxes that affect small businesses and would cost $200 billion in economic output and cost 710,000 jobs.
Congressman Tom Cotton said: "I am proud to have the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in my campaign for the United States Senate. Our economy needs strong businesses that provide good-paying jobs for their employees. Unfortunately, the Obama-Pryor economic policies have made things worse for middle class Arkansans, and Senator Pryor is incapable of fixing those problems because he thinks the definition of "middle class' in Arkansas is $200,000 per year."
