Ayotte Encourages NH Citizens to Participate in Drug Take-Back Day

With National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day set for Saturday, September 27, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) today encouraged New Hampshire citizens to turn in unused or unwanted medications to designated drug take-back locations in their communities.

"Given the high prescribing rate of powerful prescription painkillers in our state, as well as the association between prescription opioid abuse and heroin use, Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is an important opportunity for safe drug disposal. I encourage all Granite Staters to take advantage of this opportunity to properly dispose of any unused or unwanted medications," she said.

Earlier this month, the Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senator Ayotte that supports the goals of drug take-back efforts and calls for greater attention to the public health hazards of prescription drug abuse and heroin use.
