Griffin Reiterates Call for Travel Ban from Ebola-Ravaged Countries

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) today reiterated his call to implement a temporary ban on travel from three African countries that have been severely afflicted by the Ebola virus -- Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea:

"The President must implement a temporary ban on travel from these Ebola-ravaged countries to ensure the safety of Arkansans and all Americans. It is essential that we take every necessary precaution to assure the American people that we are doing all we can to prevent the spread of this deadly virus, not only abroad, but also at home. While we must ensure exceptions for health workers and maintain humanitarian aid to these countries, banning travel to the U.S. from these three countries is a step in the right direction to combat the spread of this disease."

Currently numerous countries have imposed restrictions or bans on travel to and from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and numerous airlines have restricted flights to these affected countries.

In an October 3, 2014 letter from the Arkansas House Delegation, Rep. Griffin urged the President to "implement travel restrictions, up to and including a ban on flights from the affected countries."
