Bipartisan Coalition of New Hampshire Mayors Endorses Jeanne Shaheen

Today, a bipartisan coalition of eight mayors representing cities across New Hampshire endorsed Jeanne Shaheen, citing her long record of making a difference for New Hampshire communities as both Governor and Senator. The mayors compared Shaheen's record of putting New Hampshire first with former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown's record of supporting Big Oil, Wall Street, and companies that ship jobs overseas, including a company that has paid him more than a quarter of a million dollars and sent American jobs to China and Mexico.

"I've spent my entire career working with local leaders to get things done for New Hampshire, and I'm honored to receive the endorsement from mayors across the state today," said Shaheen. "I'm particularly proud to be endorsed by both Republicans and Democrats who know that I will always put politics aside to put New Hampshire first."

"Jeanne Shaheen broke through the gridlock to finally get a veterans clinic open here in Keene, the first one in the entire Monadnock region," said Kendall Lane, Mayor of Keene. "She has a long record reaching across the aisle to get things done and always puts New Hampshire above partisan politics."

"When it comes to supporting jobs here in New Hampshire, the choice in this election could not be clearer," said Paul Grenier, Mayor of Berlin. "Jeanne Shaheen cut through the red tape and got the Berlin prison open, creating hundreds of new jobs up here in the North Country. While she was working for us, Scott Brown was getting paid more than a quarter of a million dollars for a company that shipped American jobs to China and Mexico because he's only out for himself. That's as clear as it gets."

"From raising her family here in Strafford County to fighting for the people of Somersworth, Jeanne Shaheen has proven over her entire career that she always puts New Hampshire first," said Dana Hilliard, Mayor of Somersworth. "Scott Brown, on the other hand, is clearly in this race for himself. Wall Street and corporate interests gave him millions of dollars to work for them in Massachusetts, and they're trying to do the very same thing in New Hampshire because they know he'll always work for them, not us."

"Jeanne Shaheen secured funding to strengthen our downtown's infrastructure, which reduced traffic congestion, improved safety and created jobs," said Jim Bouley, Mayor of Concord. "Unlike Scott Brown, she's made a difference for New Hampshire."

"Senator Shaheen has gotten things done for local communities across the state,"said James Nielsen, Mayor of Claremont. "Here in Claremont, she helped secure funding for the River Valley Community College, which trains workers with the skills they need to compete in today's economy. She also helped rebuild Main Street here in Claremont, which has done a lot to support our local businesses. While Scott Brown talks, Jeanne Shaheen delivers."

"Jeanne Shaheen was the one who was able to get the funding for the new Portsmouth Memorial Bridge, which is critical to the Seacoast's regional economy,"said Robert Lister, Mayor of Portsmouth. "She stood up to members of her own party to protect the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the thousands of New Hampshire residents who work there. Jeanne Shaheen fights for local communities here in New Hampshire and her record speaks for itself."
