Thompson Statement on 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps

Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS-02) released the following statement regarding the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps:

"Today, we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps has afforded more than 900,000 men and women the opportunity to serve their communities. I thank all those who have served our nation and our communities, especially those who have served in the Second Congressional District.

I would like to give special recognition to Mississippi's AmeriCorps-affiliated organization, Volunteer Mississippi, which has worked tirelessly to support and enhance volunteerism in the state. I congratulate AmeriCorps's volunteers, alumni, and administrators for all they have done and will continue to do to help build a better future for all Americans," said Congressman Thompson.
