Today, Sha Na Na and Grease Star Jon "Bowzer" Bauman campaigned for Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar, Democratic candidate for California's 31st Congressional district at a Senior Votes Count event. Bauman outlined the stakes in the race for San Bernardino County seniors, comparing Aguilar's record of protecting seniors to Republican Paul Chabot's alliances to those who would privatize Social Security and end the Medicare guarantee.
"I am honored to receive the support of Senior Votes Count," said Aguilar at the event. "Both of my grandmothers worked their entire lives in San Bernardino County and are now living on Social Security. I understand that a secure retirement is a promise we have made and are morally obligated to keep to our seniors. As your representative in Congress, I will fight to strengthen these programs and refuse to balance the budget on the backs of our seniors."
Senior Votes Count is a national organization committed to electing leaders who will fight to protect the rights of older Americans and strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
"Pete Aguilar will fight for seniors in Washington by strengthening Medicare and Social Security, and that's why Senior Votes Count is proud to get behind him," said Bauman. "Seniors in the Inland Empire deserve a representative that will keep the promises made to us and fight for a secure retirement, not Paul Chabot who would privatize Social Security and turn Medicare into a voucher program."
Bauman is known for portraying "Bowzer" on the 1970s and 1980s hit TV show "Sha Na Na" and starred in "Grease."
Pete Aguilar is a small business owner and Mayor of Redlands. He is a strong advocate for economic growth and fairness for the middle class in the Inland Empire and a leader who has reached across party lines to serve the best interests of San Bernardino County.
