Dear Secretary Burwell,

I am pleased to write in support of the application submitted by The Chautauqua Center for funding under New Access Point program. Such funding will enable The Chautauqua Center to better provide healthcare to the underserved patients in Chautauqua County and surrounding parts of Western New York.

First established in 2013, The Chautauqua Center has experienced rapid growth and a higher demand for the care that they provide. In the surrounding area, physician retirements and hospital closures have led many primary care physicians and other practitioners to cap their number of new patients, creating a surplus of local residents without a regular doctor. Over the course of just 18 months, The Chautauqua Center has seen more than 3,000 patients over the course of nearly 10,000 visits.

This proposed funding will do much in the way of enabling TCC to better handle their patient load and continue to provide an exceptional level of care. With an increased caseload, TCC requires more equipment and medical supplies, as well as increased staffing. These additions to TCC will enable them to deal with the heightening number of local patients who are unable to find a primary care doctor of their own, or who might not be able to afford one. TCC is providing and extremely valuable community service and I'm proud to lend them any and all support that they might need.
