Bennet Statement on Deployment of Fort Carson Soldiers to Help Address Ebola Crisis in Africa

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement regarding the announced deployment of 160 Fort Carson soldiers to Liberia to supervise the construction of Ebola Treatment Units. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel signed the deployment order today. The soldiers will deploy in late October.

"Our soldiers at Fort Carson train for missions that serve our national interest. The growing threat of the Ebola virus requires our attention, and these men and women will help stem the further spread of this deadly disease. Our thoughts will be with them, and we wish them a safe return."

Today, the CDC announced ‎the first U.S.-diagnosed Ebola case in Dallas, Texas involving a patient that has a recent travel history to West Africa.
