Peters Statement on H. Res. 644 Vote

Statement

Date: Sept. 9, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

oday, U.S. Representative Gary Peters (MI-14) released the following statement on his vote on H. Res. 644:

"As a former Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, I respect the code of honor to never leave a service member behind, and I take the decision to ever put our men and women in uniform in harm's way personally. It is imperative that these decisions be made in consultation with Congress.

"While I am concerned that this resolution is politically motivated, I continue to be frustrated that the President has not been working with Congress on significant matters of foreign policy and national security.

"The Administration should be notifying and briefing Congress on significant foreign policy decisions that could put our service members at risk and affect our national security."
