Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA) released the following statement on the 9 year anniversary of Hurricane Rita:
"On the ninth anniversary of Hurricane Rita, we honor the lives lost and remember the devastation inflicted on Louisiana. We also pay tribute to the dedication and determination of Louisianans across the state who helped to rebuild our communities.
"Today, southwest Louisiana is stronger than ever before. It is home to more than $77 billion in announced projects. The Cameron LNG plant in Hackberry will also begin exporting natural gas to our allies overseas, creating thousands of jobs for Louisianans.
"I am proud to be a part of this growth, but there's still more work to be done. We must protect our farmlands and increase funding for coastal restoration and hurricane protection projects. We also need a regulatory environment that will incentivize companies to invest in and bring jobs to Louisiana. I will continue to push for these and other measures to help grow and strengthen communities across our great state."
