Lankford: Constitution Day a Reminder of Our Priorities as a Nation

Representative James Lankford (R-Okla.) issued the following statement in humble commemoration of the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787:

"On this day in 1787, our founding fathers signed the Constitution of the United States of America. Our Constitution has expanded through amendments over the years, but it remains the document upon which our American ideals and purpose as a nation are built. Conservative values like religious liberty, personal responsibility, states' rights and prosperous families have been ingrained in that document from the beginning, and we must continue our fight to protect them. Our national motto, "In God We Trust,' which I use as the closing line of all official correspondence from my office, is a constant reminder of why our nation and its values have endured. Today, please join me in taking a moment to reflect on all of the many blessings we share in our nation. Please also join me as we thank the countless men and women in our armed services throughout the years who swore an oath to defend our liberties and our Constitution."
