Lankford: AG Holder Should Clear His Desk of Documents He Still Owes Congress Under Subpoena

Press Release

Date: Sept. 25, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

Representative James Lankford (R-Okla.) issued the following statement after reports that Attorney General Eric Holder plans to announce his resignation later today:

"Attorney General Holder has consistently demonstrated to the American people that the main task during his tenure has been to protect the White House and the White House agenda, more than pursue justice to the fullest extent. During the Fast and Furious investigation, Attorney General Holder's obfuscation tactics and disinterest in transparency forced the House to hold him in contempt of Congress. Now, the President should nominate someone who can restore American trust in the rule of law. Before the Attorney General steps down, he should clear his desk of the documents and information he still owes Congress under subpoena. It is unacceptable for the nation's highest law enforcement individual to stall and then resign without fulfilling his legal obligations to Congress."
