Lankford Supports Energy Bill to Approve Keystone and Expedite Available American Energy Exports

Representative James Lankford (R-Okla.) today joined members of the U.S. House of Representatives to pass H.R. 2, the American Energy Solutions for Lower Costs and More American Jobs Act, which outlines concrete steps that would move our nation toward American energy independence and support diplomatic and foreign policy relationships with energy-hungry nations.

"The House continues to support American energy producers through legislation that empowers innovation and free-market access to our nation's diverse energy portfolio," Lankford said. "High energy prices hurt every family, and it is time for this Administration to pay attention to families on fixed incomes and those living pay check to paycheck. The bill would approve the transnational portion of the northern leg of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which has been stalled by this Administration for more than 2,100 days. The Keystone XL pipeline has the potential to create thousands of jobs and to ensure our imported oil comes from trusted trade partners.

"Additionally, the bill requires the Department of Energy to approve applications for natural gas exports in an expeditious manner, ensuring that our friends throughout the world have access to stable energy supplies and are not subject to unpredictable trade alliances. Allowing our abundant natural gas resources to find foreign markets also ensures we will continue the energy exploration at home, which will undoubtedly provide jobs in Oklahoma and nationwide," Lankford concluded.
