Lankford Votes to Support Private-Sector Jobs and Help Small Business

Representative James Lankford (R-Okla.) today voted in favor of H.R. 4, the Jobs for America Act, a package of jobs-related legislation that will encourage job creation and limit unnecessary regulations on the private sector. One of the bill's provisions is Rep. Virginia Foxx's Unfunded Mandates Information and Transparency Act, which Rep. Lankford has supported throughout the legislative process. H.R. 4 passed the House in a vote of 253 to 163.

"I have been honored to join Rep. Foxx in moving her legislation through the House on behalf of concerned taxpayers in our nation," said Lankford.

"Rep. Foxx's provision encourages agencies to consider the effect their regulations have on the private sector and furthers the ability for Members of Congress to halt legislation that would result in excessive financial mandates on states and local governments or the private sector.

"Another key component of this bill is the permanent extension of the Section 179 tax deduction. The provision would allow small businesses to immediately deduct the cost of equipment from their income, enabling them to make critical investments in their business to help business owners better direct operations in the days ahead.

"I am proud to support these and the other legislative efforts combined in this bill to help foster the creation of new jobs in the United States to continue to get our economy back on track. Conservatives believe the best solution from Washington for America's job creators is to get Washington out of the way, so business owners and workers can concentrate on the job at hand, instead of on federal regulations," concluded Lankford.
