The Energy Bill is a Jobs Bill for West Virginia, Capito says
4/22/2005
WASHINGTON, DC - (4/22) - During a teleconference call with reporters on Thursday, Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) noted the coal provisions of the Energy Bill will help secure West Virginia coal jobs by increasing the demand for coal.
"I represent a state that is Energy rich," Capito told reporters. "We have some the largest coal resources in the country. This is a jobs bill for West Virginia. Certainly, the clean coal technology provisions in the bill not only provide for research and development but also provide for more plants to efficiently burn our coal to provide electricity. I am excited about those provisions in the bill because it will have a direct impact on the number of people working in the Energy industry in West Virginia."
Capito went onto note that thousands of coal jobs will be created or stabilized as a result of the Energy Bill because it will help increase the demand for coal.
