PROTECTING WOMEN'S HEALTH AND REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS

Senator Coons supports a woman's right to choose and believes a woman's medical choices should be between her and her doctor. He believes abortion should be safe, legal, and available to women regardless of means. He strongly supports efforts to expand women's access to health care. When the Komen Foundation announced it would cut off funding to Planned Parenthood for cancer screenings, Senator Coons immediately and publicly condemned the decision.

ENSURING EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK

Senator Coons is offended by the idea that women in America today still earn less than men do for the same work. As a father and husband, he has strongly supported legislative efforts to close the pay gap and enforce pay equity, cosponsoring and speaking out for the Paycheck Fairness Act.

FIGHTING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Senator Coons has been one of the Senate's strongest voices for the Violence Against Women Act, which has protected families and made our communities safer. After working in the Judiciary Committee to strengthen the law and expand protections for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women, as well as Native Americans, he has repeatedly and consistently called for House Republicans to stop obstructing the measure.
