As a West Point graduate and former Army Ranger, Jack Reed understands the importance of a strong and modern military. But he also knows that any military action comes with complex short and long-term consequences. That's why he opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning.

But even when he disagreed with President Bush's policy, he always worked to support our troops and veterans.

Jack Reed understands the dedication and sacrifices of our men and women who serve our country in uniform. He believes that we must keep our commitment to our veterans and their families by ensuring they have access to the quality, affordable benefit programs they have earned.

Reed strongly supported the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill, which is providing better benefits to veterans and their families for college and job training after their service. He has also been a champion for ending homelessness for our returning service members, ensuring we provide suitable housing for disabled and low-income veterans, and improving access to mental health services for members of the National Guard and Reserves and their families.
