Lankford: Pray Healing Families Will Know Peace and Comfort

Representative James Lankford (R-Okla.) issued the following statement in solemn remembrance and patriotic admiration of the thousands of Americans tragically lost in the 9/11 attacks and the four Americans who honorably gave the full measure of devotion in the attack on the U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya on September 11:

"Out of the ashes of these and other terrorist attacks, our nation has cultivated resilient patriotism and a renewed perseverance to protect liberty, opportunity and hope," said Lankford.

"Whether we look 2 years ago to an outpost in Benghazi, 13 years ago to a busy work day in New York City, 19 years ago to federal building in Oklahoma City or 238 years ago to the end of a years-long war against an oppressive king, American families have relentlessly banded together and stood up for our way of life. The brave first responders and soldiers, who run toward the danger, rather than away from it, prove that to us every moment they are called to duty.

"As the war on terror continues to threaten the stability of the global economy and the freedom of innocent families--most recently with the threat from ISIS--Americans must not forget our neighbors, friends and fellow Americans who will have one fewer place-setting around their dinner table because of the callous actions of our enemies around the world.

"The Book of Mark reminds us that we must love our neighbors as ourselves, and even as years separate us from these attacks, our families still need our help. We must remember our charge to take care of one another and to hold fast to American values in support and solidarity for those we lost and their families.

"I am always proud of the resilience of the American spirit in the face of adversity, and I pray that in the days ahead our families and nation will know peace and comfort," concluded Lankford.
