Governor Hassan's Statement on Sarah Mildred Long Bridge TIGER Grant

Governor Maggie Hassan today issued the following statement on the announcement that the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge replacement project will be awarded a $25 million Transportation Investment Generation Economic Recovery (TIGER) VI grant by the U.S. Department of Transportation:

"The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge is critical to the people, businesses and economy of the Seacoast, and provides a crucial rail link to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, boosting the economy of our entire state. A solid, modern transportation infrastructure is necessary to the success of our people and businesses, and I thank Senator Shaheen and Senator Ayotte for their effective advocacy of this important project, as well as Secretary Anthony Foxx and the U.S. Department of Transportation for investing in New Hampshire."

Governor Hassan has made strengthening New Hampshire's transportation infrastructure a priority since entering office, adding open-road tolling plazas in Hooksett that make travel swifter for visitors and workers, opening the new Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, and signing a bipartisan transportation funding bill that advances critical road bridge projects across the state and completes the expansion of I-93.
