Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement following House passage of H.R. 5078, the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Act of 2014:
"I am happy to see the House of Representatives fight back against President Obama's overreaching EPA that is trying to regulate every pond and ditch, unfairly attacking Arkansas farmers and rural residents. What concerns me is the overwhelming opposition to protecting Arkansas farmers by Democrats. It is proof positive of Nancy Pelosi's influence today and makes me fearful of the kind of influence she would have over Democrats if she became Speaker again.
"I sincerely hope Harry Reid lets this bill receive a vote in the Senate, unlike the 364 House-passed bills that are currently stacked up like cord wood."
The measure passed, 262-152.
