Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement announcing his agriculture policy for the 114th Congress:

"A country that cannot feed itself is a weak one. God has blessed America with this ability. As a former state president of the FFA and someone who has grown produce and raised livestock for my family, agriculture has shaped my life. In Congress, I will fight for less hassles for farmers--like unfair EPA overreach into ponds and ditches--and more freedom to trade by expanding foreign markets and opening new markets so our farmers can compete freely and fairly.

"To quote the FFA Creed I learned 30 years ago: 'I believe that rural America can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.'"
