'Pure Politics' By President Obama

Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement regarding President Obama's decision to delay executive action on immigration until after the November election after promising to do so by summer's end:

"There is never a right time to bypass Congress, but President Obama is playing pure politics with this decision. If he is worried about losing seats in the House and Senate over his policy of amnesty, then that should be a red flag to him that it's not a good idea.

"The President should not act unilaterally; immigration reform needs to go through Congress, but only after we establish operational control of our borders. I will vote against any plan that grants amnesty, and I am the only candidate in this race that is opposed to a pathway to citizenship for those that are in the United States in violation of the law."
