Card Check Wrong For Arkansas Workers

Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement on his opposition to any House Democratic plans to reintroduce "card check" legislation should Nancy Pelosi become Speaker of the House in the 114th Congress:

"Arkansas is a right to work state, and small business owners and Arkansas workers should not be threatened with the prospect of being forced to accept a union with no guarantee of a secret ballot vote. I oppose the reintroduction of card check legislation by Democrats in the next Congress and will vote against any such bill, noting the last Democrat to represent the Fourth District co-sponsored and voted for previous card check legislation--we don't need a repeat.

"I believe in maintaining the secret ballot for union elections, should workers wish to organize, and oppose any attempts at forced unionization through legislation to end or weaken the use of secret ballots in union elections."
