National Address Recorded in Gainesville

Press Release

Date: Aug. 18, 2014
Location: Gainesville, GA

Congressman Doug Collins (GA-09) addressed the nation over the weekend, with a little help from the School of Mass Communications Arts at Gainesville's Brenau University.

Collins was in the midst of carrying out a full schedule of public engagements throughout Georgia's Ninth District when he was asked to deliver the Weekly Republican Address, historically given out of the principle of equal time as a response to the President's Weekly Address from the White House.

Congressman Collins said, "It was an honor to be asked to address the nation on behalf of Northeast Georgians and Republicans across the country. When this opportunity came up, our first call was to the folks at Brenau to see if it was possible to produce a national broadcast from right here in Gainesville. Dr. Stewart Blakley, Dr. Ted Garner, and Jay Andrews of Brenau's School of Mass Communications Arts went above and beyond to make this happen. Brenau students are blessed to have access to their professionalism, expertise, and the school's outstanding facilities."

Brenau University's School of Mass Communications Arts is located in the John W. Jacobs, Jr. Business and Mass Communications Arts Building in Gainesville, GA. For more information please e-mail sblakley@brenau.edu, or log on to www.brenau.edu/businessmasscomm.
