Thank You, 9th District!

Statement

Date: Aug. 8, 2014

It has been a long, difficult campaign. I am very satisfied by our two to one victory in last night's Democratic Primary. I view it as an affirmation not just of my work and my message, but the work of my staff in Washington, D.C. and in Memphis.

I am truly honored, and I thank you for once again making me the Democratic nominee for Congress in Tennessee's 9th District. I take nothing for granted, and I ask that you support me again in the November General Election.

We ran a clean campaign. We put no signs on public property (In fact, we went so far that we had members of Team Cohen pick up signs put out by an overenthuiastic volunteer) and we didn't pay to appear on a single "sample ballot".

We expended a little bit of political capital on Lee Harris and I am pleased with his victory to State Senate District 29 and with the re-election of my dear friend Cheyenne Johnson as Shelby County Assessor.

Unfortunately Dr. M. Jain and Dr. Freda Garner-Williams had to fight uphill battles against incumbents that were not bad, but did not quite measure up.

Again, I thank you for your financial support and your vote.

Steve Cohen,
Member of Congress
