Governor Hassan Ceremonially Signs NH Benefit Corporation Act at Badger Balm

In order to help ensure that New Hampshire's small state government remains responsive to the needs of the business community, Governor Maggie Hassan today signed Senate Bill 215, bipartisan legislation that authorizes benefit corporations, in a ceremonial event at Badger Balm.

"Businesses like Badger Balm, who are committed not just to profit but also to social and environmental responsibility, strengthen our economy and our communities," Governor Hassan said. "The New Hampshire Benefit Corporation Act helps make New Hampshire more attractive to innovative, socially responsible businesses that keep our state moving in the right direction, and I thank Senator Kelly and legislators from both parties for passing this important bipartisan legislation that I am honored to sign into law."

Benefit corporations, also known as B Corps, are businesses that not only consider profit in the decision-making process, but also social and environmental responsibility.
