Durbin Endorsed By Illinois AFL-CIO Due to His Commitment to Working Families

Senator Dick Durbin received the endorsement of the Illinois AFL-CIO today.

"On behalf of the 900 thousand union members in our organization and working families across the state, we're proud to offer our support to Sen. Durbin's re-election efforts. During his time in Washington, Sen. Durbin has been a long-time champion of quality American jobs that pay a fair wage," Illinois AFL-CIO President Mike Carrigan said.

Senator Durbin is facing state Sen. Jim Oberweis who serves as the Republican spokesman of the Illinois Senate's Labor and Commerce Committee and has wasted no time making enemies during his time in Springfield. According to the Illinois AFL-CIO, state Sen. Oberweis has one of the worst voting records in the Illinois Senate.

"Here's a multi-millionaire who has fought us at every turn to provide a safe working environment, fair wages and real retirement security for workers across this state. The only person Jim Oberweis is looking out for in Springfield is Jim Oberweis," Carrigan said.

"There's a lot on the line for Illinois working families this election and I'm proud to stand with the AFL-CIO to ensure that everyday Illinoisans get a fair shot.
