WGEM - U.S. Senator Dick Durbin Visits Quincy, Speaks on Ferguson and Other Issues

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin made his way to Quincy and attended a church service early Sunday morning.

Durbin visited the Cathedral Worship and met with people around the congregation. Durbin says he spoke with church officials and youth about numerous issues including everything that's going on in Ferguson, Missouri.

"I think this is the right moment to reach out to young people, particularly young people in this congregation, to talk to them about the sweep of history and what is happening recently with their lives and in the news," Durbin said. "How important it is for our nation to come together and how important it is for each of them to make the best they can of their lives and starting here on church on Sunday is the right place to start."

Durbin says another major issue he is fighting is trying to raise the minimum wage.
