Fighting for Downstate Illinois and Our Agricultural Economy
As a statewide official from downstate Illinois, Dick Durbin is a strong advocate for our region's unique economic fabric.
Dick helped pass tax incentives to promote alternative sources of energy -- like wind and solar -- and battled Washington's bureaucracy to help bring clean coal technology to our area's coal industry. He has long championed Illinois' leading biofuels industry and his legislation helped grow market demand for these alternative energy sources.
He's also used his #2 leadership position in the Senate to save funding for Downstate sheriffs and local police to help them in their fight against meth labs and drug dealers in order to keep rural and small town communities safe and economically vibrant.
