Senator Lee Zeldin Receives "Guardian of Small Business Award" from NFIB

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the country's leading small business advocacy group, announced today that Senator Lee Zeldin, Republican and Conservative Party candidate for Congress in New York's First Congressional District, is one of five recipients of their Guardian of Small Business Award.

Mike Durant, the New York State Director of NFIB, said, "These five lawmakers have been tremendous advocates for New York's small business owners and I am proud to present the NFIB Guardian award to each of these lawmakers," citing their "steadfast commitment in fighting for main street employers."

The Guardian of Small Business Award is the National Federation of Independent Business' highest honor. The award is given to elected officials who consistently vote to protect small businesses in New York State.

In January of 2014, the NFIB announced their endorsement for Senator Zeldin's congressional campaign. Endorsements are based on a candidate's voting record on issues such as taxes, labor, regulatory issues and health care.

Additionally, every year, the NFIB releases grades on a scale of one to 100 to show voters a lawmakers' support for pro-business legislation. Senator Zeldin was named one of the top two Senators in New York to receive the highest score of 91%.

His opponent, Congressman Tim Bishop, has a lifetime pro-business voting record of 21% from the NFIB.
