My views on national security and foreign policy are shaped by my experience as a military officer. I will work to provide our troops with the tools they need to succeed in our pursuit of Al-Qaeda or any group that threatens our nation. At the same time, we need to continue the gradual drawdown of our military presence in Afghanistan.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make sure that our nation never again goes to war without fully considering and understanding the true cost. The effects of war need to be taken into serious consideration before putting our troops at risk.

It is important for our troops to have the best equipment in the world. With that said, the Pentagon spends billions of dollars each year on wasteful defense contracting practices and expensive equipment we do not need. I am working to keep America's military the strongest in the world while cutting wasteful spending.
