EPA Unfairly Threatens Jefferson County Jobs

Statement

Date: Aug. 14, 2014
Location: Hot Springs AR

Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement regarding recent testimony before the Arkansas legislature that a new EPA rule could threaten closure of the White Bluff Electric Power Plant in Jefferson County:

"President Obama's EPA is threatening to wipe White Bluff and its $600 million regional economic benefit right off the map. This top-down rule unfairly targets 480 Arkansas workers and their families at a time when the Fourth District is facing 9.4% unemployment under this president who seems to ignore how his policies hurt hardworking Arkansans.

"As the next Fourth District Congressman, I will fight against federal agencies that threaten Arkansas workers. Until then, I call on AEDQ and other relevant state agencies to stand up to President Obama's EPA."
