Former Arkansas House Majority Leader and Fourth District Congressional Candidate Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs) today released the following statement regarding the endorsement of the Arkansas Right to Life Political Action Committee of his campaign for Congress:

"I am honored to earn the endorsement of Arkansas Right to Life, and proud of the two pieces of legislation we passed with bipartisan support in the Arkansas General Assembly that protected the lives of unborn Arkansans and made into law by overriding the Governor's veto. In Congress, I will fight for less hassles from Washington and more freedom for pro-family Arkansans to pass on to our children the common sense conservative Arkansas values that we learned from our parents."

In a letter, Arkansas Right to Life President Wayne Mays wrote that Westerman's endorsement "reflects our appreciation for the strong stand you have taken as a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives on behalf of those members of our human family who are least able to protect themselves."

Mays adds: "Our support also recognizes your leadership in defending life demonstrated by your sponsorship of pro-life legislation and your solid pro-life voting record while in the Arkansas General Assembly. We appreciate the values by which you live, the inspiration you provide those in your community, and the courage with which you stand up for the principles in which you believe."
